Kiva Corporation (Headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Yuta Isozaki, President; hereinafter "Kiva") is pleased to announce that it is moving toward full-scale deployment of its web accessibility tool, UniWeb, in Europe.

Background and Significance of Expansion into Europe

Accessibility support is already a pressing issue in Europe, where the need for accessibility support for businesses and public institutions is rapidly increasing in response to the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which will come into effect on June 28, 2025, and other regulatory tightening.

UniWeb is taking advantage of these European trends to provide the best solution that is both easy to implement and highly effective in improving the efficiency of the system, which can be used simply by adding a single tag line, making it easy for companies and organizations with limited IT resources to implement and significantly reduce their operational workload.

The accessibility improvement rate is as high as 73.3%, and the site provides a pleasant web experience for visitors. 99.5% of the Japanese users continue to use the service, demonstrating its ongoing effectiveness and high level of satisfaction.

Furthermore, UniWeb is not limited to simple accessibility support, but also offers global support and improved usability through multilingual translation functions and unique UI enhancement functions, and it meets the needs of various businesses in detail through flexible customization support based on complete in-house development and a prompt support system.

In this way, UniWeb will continue to respond to the changing needs of the European market and contribute to the realization of a sustainable and inclusive web environment with its solid technological capabilities and philosophy.

◾️What is the European Accessibility Act (EAA)?

The European Accessibility Act (EAA), which aims to improve the accessibility of products and services in EU member states, must be implemented in each country by June 28, 2025, and covers a wide range of digital services including bank ATMs, e-books, online stores, and transportation ticketing sites.

The standards adopted are the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), international web accessibility guidelines established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which are designed to make information and operations accessible to people with a variety of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, and cognitive impairments.

Countries covered by the EAA as of 2025 (27 EU member states)

Future

UniWeb views accessibility as both a social responsibility and a source of competitiveness, and we will continue to contribute to the realization of a society in which everyone has equal access to information by further strengthening our technological development and international deployment in order to correct the worldwide web divide.
