Kiva Corporation (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Kouta Nojiri, hereinafter Kiva) is pleased to announce the commencement of collaboration with Phoenisys Corporation (Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Kenji Kino, hereinafter Phoenisys) in the web accessibility tool 'UniWeb' business.

 

■Background of Collaboration

As of April 1, 2024, the Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (*1) will enforce the provision of reasonable accommodations as an obligation for businesses, which had previously been required only for administrative agencies.

While all people, including those with disabilities and the elderly, are seeking an environment where they can smoothly utilize information and services provided on the web, web accessibility is still not well-established. According to a survey by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (Note 2), the percentage of Japanese companies using the internet is 99.7%, but only 4.6% of them meet the JIS standards for web accessibility.

In response to the above situation, we have started a collaboration with Phoenisys to promote the adoption of web accessibility in companies.

• Age-related vision loss (presbyopia, lens changes (yellowish, dark, blurred vision, etc.))

  *About half of the patients in their late 70s have cataracts with yellowing changes.
• Age-related hearing loss
• Foreign travelers (if a foreigner who does not understand Japanese is struck by an earthquake while traveling, can he/she obtain evacuation information, etc.)
