◾️ import background

Niigata Seiryo Gakuen aims to be a hub for solving social issues by 2040. We believe it is essential to receive cooperation from various sectors, including local residents and related institutions, to realize this vision.
In this context, we had an opportunity to meet Kiva, and we felt a connection between the philosophy of Uniweb—'that all people can use the website equally, regardless of age or physical condition'—and our own philosophy. We also wished to let more people know about our institution and establish connections, which led us to implement Uniweb.
We will continue to strive to improve web accessibility and work towards becoming a hub for solving social issues through providing inclusive opportunities.

◾️What is Web Accessibility?

It is not a special accommodation only for the disabled or elderly, but anyone can be in the same situation as a disabled person.

  • Temporary injury or illness (e.g., car accident with arm in cast and unable to use arm, eye disease with eye patch and blindness, etc.)
  • Age-related changes
  • Age-related vision loss (presbyopia, lens changes (yellowish, dark, blurred vision, etc.))
  • Eye diseases common in middle-aged and older adults (cataracts, glaucoma, etc.)
*About half of the patients in their late 70s have cataracts with yellowing changes.
  • Age-related hearing loss
  • Foreign travelers (if a foreigner who does not understand Japanese is struck by an earthquake while traveling, can he/she obtain evacuation information, etc.)

◾️About UniWeb

UniWeb provides web accessibility features "on the day of deployment" by simply adding a single line of code to all web services.

In order to achieve equal website services for all, we want to put users in various situations, such as those with visual impairments or those who temporarily lose the use of their hands due to injury, in a position to understand correct information through various uses such as voice reading and contrast changes.

◾️Niigata Seiryo Gakuen Educational Corporation

At Niigata Seiryo Gakuen, we have created the 'Seiryo Future Vision' and 'Seiryo Mission' based on the image of the institution around 2040, defining the future we aim for in the vision as 'a square of social innovation where people and society resonate together.'

"Social Innovation' may still be an unfamiliar term, but the innovation that Seiryo aims for, based on 'practical learning,' is perceived as 'solving local and social issues.' By adding the meaning of a 'square'—implying a public space—we envision a 'place for encounters and growth' where we work not just within the institution, but together with local residents, businesses, and municipalities to solve problems and nurture individuals who aim to solve those problems. In the 2025 academic year, we will establish the 'Social Innovation Center' as the core of our activities, advancing toward becoming 'Seiryo that is sought after from the community.'
