What motivated you to think about implementing accessibility features?

There are two reasons why we decided to take action.

First, it is the Disability Discrimination Elimination Act that was enacted in April 2024. Until now, the statutory obligation to provide reasonable accommodation was only applicable to the national and local governments, but we learned that companies will also be required to fulfill this obligation in the same way, and we decided to respond accordingly.

The second point is our desire to create a site that allows more people to use it comfortably. While we carefully choose beautiful photos, videos, texts, and colors for the brand site to maintain its worldview, we hadn’t considered whether it is comfortable for all customers to read.

This time, after receiving information about Uniweb from Mr. Nojiri, we decided to respond if it meant expanding options for all customers receiving through the brand site.

 

Background to the Implementation of Uniweb

First, the extended warranty service provided by Kiva Corp.protectWe have implemented this, and the trust we placed in Kiva was significant.

When I spoke to Mr. Nojiri about accessibility compliance and Uniweb, I researched and compared other companies' services, but there were almost no companies providing accessibility services domestically, so Uniweb was the clear choice.

In the case of Uniweb, being able to freely change the service colors and adjust the position and size of icon displays without disrupting the brand site's worldview was also a decisive factor.

 

Please tell us about the number of days and man-hours it took to implement Uniweb.

The process of implementing Uniweb was simple and took about 15 minutes. The support system was robust, and they responded promptly to any questions I had.

 

Is Uniweb a service you would like to recommend to other companies?

Yes, I think so. Since implementing Uniweb, I have mentioned that other companies should also address accessibility. However, as this is not a service aimed at increasing sales, I believe it still has a low priority.

I believe it is important for companies to take action from the perspective of their stance and branding. While it is often said that big companies are the ones managing this, I believe it is crucial to address these issues regardless of a company's size.

 

What kind of brand or company are you aiming for in the future?

In makeup brands, the expression of colors is important. Until now, we have been particular about 'how it looks,' despite some variation by device.
Going forward, to allow customers to appreciate the brand's appeal, I would like to refine not only the visual colors but also the text expressions and consider content such as auditory expressions.
This is a challenge to enrich expression further and allow customers to enjoy the brand's worldview more, and I believe that this challenge will lead to enjoying the brand's worldview under various conditions.
